HI all- I was just wondering if anyone here has any photos of the Pantera automobile. My SO told me she saw one the other day, and it looked pretty cool. I've not seen one yet, so if anyoen out there has a pic or 2, i'd appreciate it- Thanks
Yes, do a google image search. At one of my local cruising spots we have a couple that usually come through every couple of weeks.
Plus, a few years ago I knew where one, along with a 66 GT 350, were sitting outside rotting to the ground. The owner knew what he had but refused to sell.
Yes I have seen them they look IMO similar to an old Ferarri 308. But they're powered by I believe 351 Ford engines.
That's like saying Marilyn Monroe was only a woman, Deez Nuttz. They are powered by BOSS 351 full race engines, for crying out loud.
Just the sound of them idling was a treat. Only a wild cam could cause that much irregularity and pent-up power. Driving them around town in traffic was a challenge. You could never get out of second gear until you were on a freeway. They all would do 160MPH with ease and that felt like about 75 in a "normal" car. What a thrill. I worked at a dealership and did most of their test drives. We had over two dozen in our shop over time. Memories.

Reason: spelling
But all I was able to find were the cars were powered by 351 Clevelands.
Yes. As I recall these were the "R" engines, with a 4V carb, 4-bolt mains, solid lifters and a wild cam.
Great pix with Elvis, but once he gained all his weight he probably couldn't even shovel himself into the drivers seat. Boy, did a person sit close to the pavement in those babies.
We sold a few of those engines [complete Pantera set-up] to some local racers, and they did quite well with them in Kearney Bowl's Nascar Races near Fresno for a few years.
In the Speed channel show "Bullrun" (I think that's the name) you can catch a Pantera in action when the first few episodes are in repeat. It's not a great show, but there are some interesting cars in the mix, including the Pantera. Like any other car, there's fan sites around too. If you can name a car there's probably a few dozen dudes with an internet shrine to keeping them going, or at least looking for parts :-)
