Yep, I have a Zipcar membership, though I have a few cars as well. It's so handy to have for trucks, vans, etc. and works out great if you're downtown and need a car to use for a couple of hours downtown without the hassle of driving into the city.
But it seems like it's cheaper to rent a car. $39 a day, no annual fee, no application fee, unlimited miles... versus $66 for 180 miles.
Zipcar is designed for urban folk who need a car only occasionally, for a few hours at most. Try renting a car at Alamo or Budget for two hours and see what kind of rate you get. Also zipcar fees include gas and insurance, which is handy if you don't already have auto insurance (and why would you if you don't own a car?)
It doesn't work for everyone, but people I know who use it have nothing but good things to say about it.

I agree......I checked it out and it seems to me that it would be cheaper to simply rent the car for the whole day. I guess I can't see paying to use a car just for an hour or two......usually I use a car to make more than just one trip, but that's just me I guess. Plus my car is paid for so it would make no sense for me anyway.
We live in a small town, so no Zipcar for us. It's a bummer because as a one-car family we would use such a service occasionally.
