Default Silverado drivers

I drive a Mark LT at the moment and its beginning to lack some now that I explore new things, so I've decided to ditch it soon for another brand. One of my pals has a Dodge Laramie that he's been letting me drive for awhile and even he thinks I should get a Silverado. Everywhere I'm out and about, I see the Silverado guys, giving the nod to each other and enjoying the ride. I thought about getting a F-250, I'm not so sure about that though, I see a ton more Silverado's here in Texas than I do Fords.

This will only be my second truck and I want it to be a nice one. If anybody has gone from Mark LT to Silverado or any other truck let me know what you think. Thanks

I'm assuming you're meaning a new Silverado correct? Well actually if I were in your position, I'd wait until the '09 Ford F-150's come out and see how you like them. They're improving just about everything and personally I like the more square, muscular look of the new F-150 compared to the Silverado. I wouldn't suggest a Ford Superduty unless you were going to be doing some serious hauling/towing as it really makes no sense to have such a large truck just to for daily driving especially with the price of gas. I drive an '07 Yukon Denali and the interior is quite similiar to the Silverado LTZ which retails around $40K. I'm not a huge fan of Dodge trucks, I've ridden in a few and I swear that the front seats have absolutely no lumbar support even when I turn the knob as far as I can! But they are coming out with an '09 Ram which is completely overhauled and promises to address many of the problems the current generation Ram has.

Since you're driving a Lincoln Mark LT, I'd look at the GMC Sierra Denali as it offers a bit more comfort features than a regular Silverado. But just my $0.02.

Yeah sorry, I meant a new model. Thanks for the advice, I've never had the chance to drive a sierra before. The F-250 would be for the crew during TexMex and open pit competiton, when we have to haul all of our equipment. None of us has really decided on who should get the crew truck yet, so I'm still considering the Silverado 1500 for other purposes. Normally, I commute in my Jeep everywhere else. I love my LT, but it has to go for a new truck.

The 09 Ford holds a lot of promise. The newer Silverados are good too.

The new Dodges are out now. You can check them out if you like. They have an all new 4 link coil over suspension. The new Fords should be out in November. Both trucks are going to be leaps and bounds over the ones they replace. Still...

I'd go with a GM. I like the looks of the GMC better, but both are good trucks. I feel that the ride, handling, and steering is better overall. I have an '06 Silverado now, and would trade up if I could afford it.

I drive Fords (regular and supers) all day for work, and I can't stand them. I find the interiors to be unpleasing to the eye, the seats uncomfortable, and the the steering heavy.

Regardless of what you choose, good luck.

I bought a near new Silverado in 99. It was by far the worst piece of junk I have ever owned. The extended warranty paid for it's self 5 times over.

That's interesting, Rickers

I purchased a New Silverado 4x4 in 1987 and kept it for 18 years before deciding I no longer needed a big truck . . . needless to say, ONE HUGE MISTAKE as it was absolutely flawless.

I sure miss that truck and, even after three years, could kick myself for making such a bad decision to sell.

Could it be your "new new" Silverado was wrecked or abused prior to your purchase?

Every company has a lemon, I guess. I also have an '85 GMC, in addition to my '06, that has been a great truck. Typical issues for a vehicle of that age, but great nevertheless.
