Automotive knowledge needed
I am seeking some advice...
I live in Colorado (Denver area). I would really like to learn about cars, what makes it run and not run and everything in between. I can locate the oil stick...so I believe it would be mechanics 101...Do you know of any place in the Denver area that has a school or a shop that does this for people...I am very interested and just thought you might be able to help me out...
thanks!

I'd first read some books. Automotive courses at tech schools aren't about learning how to change your oil. They are about actually becoming a mechanic. You would need lots of time and money for lots of tools. And you shouldn't just jump into it not knowing how to change a fan belt.
Hit the auto section at Barns N Noble, find a few books. Subscribe to a more techinical car magazine. Read a Bentley or Chilton tech manual for your car. If you actually mean you want to become a tech, next you go to school.

I know when I went to School in Utah a couple of times a year they offered a class at night that was basically an overview of all the basics when it came to an automobile. How to check your fluids, proper jacking techniques, etc. It was usually only a night and it took about 3 hours or so. I helped teach the class when I was in school. The class usually was focused on answering the common questions that arose while owning an automobile. It was usually for people like yourself who wanted to learn more and yes it was mainly females (not trying to imply anything). I would see if this class was offered by any colleges around your area.
