I don't like smaller windows. Seems that "swept up" look in the back leads to small and smaller back windows. I NEED TO SEE

but, Linson, the G8 is a great performing car, and it makes 375 HP, and it can do this and it can do that and its uuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnggggggggggghhh...... --shut your mouth! you know nothing of sports cars. if you drop an LS1 or an LS2 into anything, it's gonna have a respectable level of performance, period. if GM wasnt so corperate (i.e. soulless) and that what those G8's and others are - soulless - they would design a new Firebird, or a GTO worthy of the name, or imagine this - an all new sports car, with an all new heritage. nah, they would never do that.

historically, a GM backer, i will say that Ford did it right with the new Mustang, and for that i give Ford credit. 300 HP & 320 TQ from a high reving 281 ci motor, and great styling, and an awesome muscle car sound, for under 30K. oh, yeah, and a huge after market.

word ot the day - purpose-built performance car.
From a "chick's" perspective...

Most of the guys I have known who are into these new soul-less muscle cars that you describe are a bunch of nerds. I believe that people's cars really do represent more of them than they realize and it makes perfect sense for a nerd to want one of these new cars.

Nerds consider themselves to be the best guys in the world "underneath it all." They know that on the outside they are average and plain at best, or even kinda ugly. They believe that they are still better than other guys because underneath their less attractive exterior is a "heart of gold", top quality A#1 catch of a guy. All their fantasies are about having people discover that "Hey, Eggbert always seemed like such a nerd, but when you get to know him, who the guy on the inside is, he is a great, great guy!!!! REALLY!!!" and then all the jocks and pretty girls would realize this and all of a sudden have a respect for them that they never had before. Just watch any kind of Revenge of the Nerds type movie, it's the same old thing.

Well that's exactly what these cars represent to these nerd guys. They are boring ugly old grandpa-mobiles that are give sharper lines to be "sport" versions of the earlier model year grandpa-mobiles, and they throw a V-8 in them, and all the nerds go crazy because they want a car that people will say "Oh that's some grandpa-mobile" and they can reply "Well let me tell you that 'grandpa-mobile' as you put it is actually a high-powered sport touring sedan with a V-8 engine and 320 horses and it is the fastest car at the Motor Trend Nurburbrung track trials even beat a 500 series BMW. SO MOCK MY CAR'S LOOKS ALL YOU WANT, CUZ UNDERNEATH THE HOOD IS AN ENGINE OF GOLD- Um...eerrrr, I mean A POWERFUL V-8 ENGINE!!!" LOL

So those are the ultimate nerd-mobiles and since nerds make good money GM has targeted them.

I know this guy who is a big nerd ever since high school. He now has a trophy wife but his real love is his Buick Regal T-type and he even is open about the fact that he loves it because it's nerdy on the outside and "fools" people because it's STRONG under the hood, LOL. What a nerd.

His other cars are Cadillac Grandpa-mobiles with the "sport" designation and he thinks that because of the sport designation that other people recognize it's not a grandpa-mobile, but he's sooooooo wrong. It is the ultimate rRevenge-of-the-nerds-mobile LOL. Now his latest gift to his trophy wife is some new Cadillac "crossover" which looks like a huge station wagon but he calls it an "SUV" LOL. I told our other friends that it looks more like the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from the movie 'Vacation' LOL.... Let me see if I can get pics... Yep here we go:

I hate tires that stick out past the fenders. Fenders are to keep mud and crap off your car, and others too. Suvs are the worse, they sling mud everywhere. "Form should follow function".

Easterntiger is on a distinguished road
In a few years after the scarcity of oil finally takes a toll on the auto industry, and the industry and consumers adjust, of course, in hindsight, all of the movies/photos of people driving and standing next to these incredibly inefficient and mostly pointless SUV's are going to look really dumb. Sort of like those enormous mansions that the barons built in Florida and the northeast a hundred years ago, that they could barely heat, but they built them just because they had the money to blow.

At one intersection, I recently saw two Dodge Durangos along with one Chrysler Aspen. Still shiny, probably not paid off. Already extinct. They won't be the last.

Backup cameras, because you can't see, high ground clearance, for all of those mall trips, big rims and rubber, to keep those bloated assembly lines running and profit margins high....the incredible waste is only obvious when you go to other parts of the world and see what other people are driving, with their adjustments already made to higher gas prices.

Let's not talk about the 10,000 deaths a year from rollovers, coming from only 3% of all accidents. You can't cheat physics with these deathtraps! But, since everybody has one (well almost), it doesn't matter - everyone else is doing it. Let's also just ignore the little boys that go one further and jack them up even higher and make them louder, to compensate for 'something'.

For over a decade now, the traffic reports a full of 'over-turned vehicles'. It's always going to be someone else, not you.

Soccer moms in Surburbans and Expeditions. What a joke.

Times almost up.

Isn't there another board for enviromentalist? I hate those types of vehicles being used for such purposes but I don't hate those vehicles. I have relatives who own and use such vehicles because they need such vehicles. They use them for carpet/flooring, auto windshield installation, and they go camping, hunting, and fishing. Modern cars can't tow a camper. There is a need for such vehicles.

ok mr treehugger, my chainsaw is just getting sharpened up. The wirld has PLENTY of oil, we just a bunch of stupid pos's in dc that won't let us drill it. (Personally, I think anyone in elected office who says we should not allow our oil companies drill and tap our oil should be shot for treason- I'd proudly pay for the bullets). As for our vehicles beng deathtraps, you have to be kidding!!! What kind of nut thinks that the safest vehicles in the world is death traps? More people are killed in small vehicles than larger vehicles. It's a fact.
