Well, if they did merge, at least Chrysler's quality may go up a notch or two!

That makes more sense than GM - Hyundai could actually use the trucks and minivans, Chrysler the small cars, and the dealer networks are less similar.

Very interesting, Brikag!

Not a big fan of either Hyundai or Chrysler but this does seem to make more sense than General Motors.

It would be just as well IMO, both of them make "throw away" cars.

Doesn't Chrysler make the military's tanks? I thought that's why they were bailed out in 1979. They're not dependent on government contracts, but we need our tanks. If only they could use the same technology on cars.

Hmmm.

This does sound like something that could happen. Hyundai wants to move upmarket at a low price(Genesis) so maybe they figure the Chrysler nameplate could give them cache(?) similiar to that of domestic luxuries(Lincoln/Caddy). Jeep is a no-brainer, everybody seems to want the nameplate. I'm not sure where the Dodge nameplate would fit though. Maybe Hyundai would abandon the Kia nameplate in favor of Dodge?

The Defense Division of Chrysler designed the XM1 Abrams, but in 1979 General Dynamics Land Systems bought the Defense Division.

I don't know, but I'm guessing that selling the division was part of the effort to save Chrysler.

You obviously dont pay attention to the automotive world, or else you would have known that Hyundai has been making gigantic strides in quality, and are above Chrysler in terms of reliability and quality.
