Well I have owned Fords Doges and Chevys and I will take my Chevy any day over the Pile of Ford. This is the only post that I will make in this thread becaus I am sick of steve-o constantly trying to stirr up an argument and bashing everyting that is not his.

I've seen way more falling-apart Fords than I have Chevy's.

And GM spanks Ford in quality, which, admittedly, is like being Valedictorian of summer school.
You know what they say about opinions...

I used to think about this kind of thing in 1965.

I guess we're talking just about trucks then? Maybe it's just preferance here but I've never felt comfortable driving any ford truck. I much prefer chevy trucks. And Dodge actually comes in second.

I think they are both overrated actually, and I've owned a Ford truck for the past 10 years and it's been extremely reliable. I'm sure many Chevy owners can say the same about vehicles they have owned though as well. I just don't think neither one is superior to the other.

I don't have the time to play russian roulette with which Fords are good and which ones aren't,we had a Fairmont...fell apart,my Bronco II...had 2 transmissions, and I ended up having to start it with a screwdriver to bring it down to the dealer to trade it in for my GM before it even hit 100,000...
My friend's Econoline van lasted awhile but went down hard, and his Explorer had some problems right off...

Then I've heard people say that Mustangs and F-150s are fine...

I need to know the make of vehicle I pick is going to be consistent no matter which model I have.

I own a 2002 Explorer XLT w/ 98k miles (new body style).

1) Rear differential was replaced with less than 60k miles and is already roaring again.

2) Valves clatter, dealer can't explain why and says it normal

3) Tranny shifts like crap and "clunks", I expect it to die anyday now despite the fluid being changed twice.

4) Both front brake calipers literally fell apart.

5) Door panel plastics are already dry and crumbling

6) Rear a/c stopped working a long time ago, it's not worth fixing

I wont buy another Ford. GM may have some problems, but at least their transmissions and rear ends are better.

Tru that I never really had any problems with my 92 GMC Jimmy before I sold it in 2001. Same with my current Chevy, other than normal wear it's been fine up to it's current 170,000!(Knock on wood)
