Question My SUV is sick

Hi everyone from northern Ontario.
Is there anyone that knows anything about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4.
It's not going into 4x4 all the time when I turn the switch, could it be some kind of sensor.

Could be anything from a bad fuse or connection to a messed-up transfer case.

Need to take it to a mechanic to diagnose it.

Sorry I couldn't point to something and be able to tell you exactly what it is, but there are a whole lot of things it could be.

Hopefully, it's simply a blown fuse or loose connection.

Are you saying that sometimes it will go in and some times it wont? If that is the case the n you need to look at the actuator motor. There is 2 of them I believe. On on the transfer case and one on the front axle. I am betting that the one on the front axle is is at fault. It could be from the cold, poor connection, snow/ice build up, or the grease is too cold and stiff to allow it to move. Either way I sugest you take it to a mechanic to get it looked at.
