General Motors has raised the prospect of eliminating the nameplate as it tries to restructure to regain profitability.
General Motors hasn't officially announced the end of Saturn, but in a restructuring plan submitted to Congress, the automaker said it would concentrate resources on four core brands -- Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.
That leaves Saturn, along with GM's Pontiac, Saab and Hummer brands, with a dim future.

Saturn seems to have come a long way. It would be tough to see a company that went from well crap to what they have now. I like the new Aura's, very well laid out and comfortable.

Hopefully Saturn sticks around.
You've got it backwards. When all Saturn had was the S series, they were great, cheap and easy to maintain cars.

Now that they are all GM, they are pure crap.
Yeah back in the early 90's Saturn was unique. They had their own special powertrains (which were good), dent resistant body panels, and the interior was more like the imports. Saturn did well back then with buyers that normally would have bought Hondas and Nissans. They should have stuck with small 4 cylinder cars instead of getting into SUVs and minivans. I think the L-series (Opal) was a mistake too.

I remember reading about this.
They said their demographic didn't really want SUVs or minivans.
They said they were mostly teachers and females who wanted reliable transportation.
My first car was a 2005 Toyota Corolla and I absolutely loved it...for the 2.5 months I had it...before I totaled it.
In any case, my Saturn is okay but I am not in love with it. It gets me from point A to point B and it isn't a gas hog.
