Default Nissan stops production of one SUV line....

And is thinking of bringing another!?!? The cancellation I speak of is the SUV's Armada and QX56 at the end of 2009. But the introduction of a new model is the Nissan Patrol that is sold globally. I loved the Patrol in the 90's. Drove one when I was stationed in Japan. Great SUV! But, seriously. With our new found love of fuel efficiency and less is more, I dont think this will make it after the third year.

Hope this changes the perception that the Japanese automakers dont make any gas guzzlers

I have seen the Nissan Patrol in Australia, it is the biggest SUV down under (Australia doesnt have any real cars, even a Dodge Caliber is considered a mid-size SUV there)

I agree it is ugly. I think that you will see a resurgence of the MiniVan market, as people with large families need to have a vehicle that accommodates their needs. I like Volkswagon's new Routan.

The QX56 and it's Nissan counterpart just sit on the lot forever these days.

The Patrol is a good compromise and a very good vehicle that might prove popular with a certain crowd as long as Nissan markets it well.
