I went to an auto parts store to replace the wipers on my 06 VW and they were just under fifty dollars for the front two. I didn't ask about the back one.

Now a bulb is out in my tail light. On my last car (not a VW), the bulb was $46.

Is there a place to buy good parts such as these at better prices? And is it relatively easy to change the bulb in the tail light?

The heck?

I just bought 2 wipers for both our van, and our car, at ORiellys. I got the Anco brand. Buy 1 get 1 free. I think I spent $12 per car. They are extremely easy to replace.

Remember, you don't need to buy the most expensive brand.

Taillight: I cannot imagine how that could possibly cost $46, unless that was the price to install it at a shop. The bulbs should cost about $3 each.

HIF, Take them back immediately, is it a Beetle or what? I did see some on the internet for 46.00 for a Jetta. Anco is a good brand and like Filet said a bulb only can not be that expensive. Have them put the blades on for you for free. Advantage, O'Reillys, Murray's, Auto Zone.

Missed you,
TAS

It was an Auto Zone that had the wipers and they were the least expensive. I don't remember the brand. My car is a Rabbit.

I will try WalMart.

The bulb was for my previous car- an Audi- and, yes, they did install it when they were doing warranty work, but on the invoice that was the cost for the bulb, they installed it at no charge. I saved the old bulb to make a necklace, the cost was so dear.

Any online places for the bulb? I can't imagine that Wal Mart will have those. Are bulbs easy to replace?

What is the number on the bulb, and we can tell you if you got ripped or not....

That was in '06 and the reason that I sold the Audi when it went out of warranty. I didn't think I could afford the repairs.

I am now ISO a break light bulb for an 06 Rabbit. Have looked online, but can't find one. It's the left rear brake light and it looks as though there are two bulbs in the brake light- only half of it is out.

Unfortunately, the type of wipers on the vehicle in question are a one piece design, like the Anco Contour blade and yes, they are around $20 bucks apiece. Look at a 2007 and up GM truck, they have them too, as well as most Volvos and Audis for the last five years. Ford is starting to use them too. In addition to all this, there are like five different types of connectors for those one piece blades making it harder to just "pick up a set of wipers".

Sorry folks, thems the breaks. Until the price comes down on them, which should happen when more and more cars start to use them from the factory, the price is high.

Thanks, Team. I thought that I was buying a "people's car", but I guess there are a lot of things to consider that never crossed my mind. Not the end of the world, but after replacing the blades on my son's car, they just seemed way out of line.

i bought some anco's a couple of weeks ago for my sierra; they're coming off as soon as i can get back to the parts store.

those are the worst wipers i've ever had; they don't contour to the windshield and leave water in the center of its swipe path.

as for headlights, i had to buy a two-pack of 9006 (i think they were) and it was around $20.
