I actually saw one on the road, or in a parking lot, in Tucker, GA as a kid. I was getting a haircut.

This would have been in the early '60's. Obviously way before collector cars went nuts on price.

then you're aware of the fibreglass shells over late model frames they used in the movie. I saw one of those at a local show. Really rough up close, no interior, painted on chrome.

I'll offer $100 over his price!

I saw a Tucker once, about 20 yrs ago, in a traveling Smithsonian display. Most beautiful car I've ever laid my eyes upon.

For anyone who hasn't seen the movie "Tucker, The Man and his Dreams" starring Beau Bridges?...it is well worth the time.

I saw one in the showroom when they first came out. A local dealer had the franchise, and had a demonstrator, and my dad took me over to see it. I was ten years old.

There was a lot of advertising for them, with their revolutionary safety features. A windshield that would pop out intact on impact from within, a padded dash, a reinforced cowl under the dash, and of course, the center headlight that would turn with the steering, to aim around corners.

The rear-mounted engine was not new--- VW was ready for production in post-war Germany. The Renault 4CV was already rolling on highways in France, and the beautiful Czech Tatra had been running with big rear-mounted V-8s since the 30s.

I may be wrong, but I also think it was the first car to ever have a padded instrument panel. I THINK. I also think it was the first car to have safety belts.

Go to You Tube and type in Tucker cars.
There are some vids on there of them.
A very unique car and way before its time.
It's a shame the company didn't survive.
