I looked at it a while back. The higher-optioned CC is beautiful inside and out, but by the time you have the decent engine, awd, and nice interior, you are looking at $40k. It should be a great deal in three years when they go for $24k used.

This car is on my list to replace my GLI this summer and I will probably look at the 2.0 engine (the same highly-rated one found in the GLI and GTI). It is a fantastic piece of work and I'm curious if it mates well with a car of that size. That alone will keep the price closer to 30k than 40k.
For a while I saw this car referred to as the "Passat CC", but VW still has the Passat in it's lineup. However, there is only one option level for the Passat, and it is due for a redesign. Does anyone know anything about the future of the Passat, given that the CC has already replaced it to some degree?
It's a great looking car... is it offered with the TDI in it ? THAT would be the way to go !
Not at the moment, and probably will not in that car. The 4 cylinder FSI turbo is pretty damn good though and quite efficient. On that model, its basically the same price as the passat it's built on
VW lost my interest when the redesigned the Jetta to (basically) look exactly like a Toyota Corolla.
I'm sure these are great cars, but it just kind of seems like VW has lost its identity.
I hate the current generation Jetta as well. It has that horribly proportioned squished Corolla look which completely ruined the car for me. The previous gen was a good looking car but they failed with the new one. The Passat CC is actually a beautiful car and if I didn't have horrible experience with VW I'd consider it as a future purchase.
If you are intersted in the VR6 engine, there are some terrific deals on remaining 2009 models that get the price down pretty low (for a car of its caliber). I have heard as low as 30k for one with an MSRP in the upper 30's. The 2.0's apparently are good sellers, so there are fewer discounts on those.
This car has the same problem so many nice sedans have today... they are designed for four people only. I refuse to buy a vehicle that will not accomodate three in the rear... there are many sizable cars that are otherwise nice but simply waste space and limit capabilities.
