2010 Ford Taurus, forget Camry/Accord time to buy American?
Looking at the latest pictures of the 2010 Ford Taurus
I think this car has the right look and performance
to challenge the Japanese.I think if they build this
right it will be a seller. So what do you all think?

I think I need to see one on the road. Pictures aren't doing it for me. If it has presence, then it might be a nice upgrade for my Fusion down the road.

I guess people who can stand the ugly looks of the camery and accord might like this. But it's time put a trunk on cars again!!!! These cutoff half way design jobs are horrible, and I don't care what kind of car it is.

It looks nice. But I am hesitant about any new model that is being released in its first year. I would recommend a 2011 look once the reliability reports have been released.
However, I think it may be a big seller, esp with strong incentives to buy American.

Now all you've gotta know is where it's actually made - here, or somewhere in Mexico.

I like this car very much. I prefer the two-tone interior shown on Autoblog. Ford is moving up-market.
I'm not sure I would compare this car with the Japanese. It seems to be more European inspired to me, almost BMWish. A lot of Japanese cars have a European flair too.
I agree with 12GO, it appears that this car has no trunk; that's the Bangle influence perhaps. However, looks can be deceiving, especially in photos. The Taurus is a big car, but something about the dimensions makes it appear smaller that it really is. I'm sure it has ample trunk space.
One thing I miss in today's cars are real bumpers. I can't think of a single manufacturer that puts traditional bumpers on their cars today.
I suspect reliability will be fine. Ford seems to have exorcised that particular demon.

That's a great looking car. I think Ford is really making great strides. But being the way I am (cheap), I'll be waiting to pick up a used one.

Also the 09 onwards Chevy Malibu is tough competition for the Camry / Accord

Maybe if they can make a Taurus that lasts beyond 100k then I'll be interested.
