Well Everybody knows that a Crown Vic is a super comfortable car. it has preferably 400hp which is fast. but they stopped selling it to the public because ppl pretende to be a dang cop
Sounds pretty stupid. The department I worked for also used the Mustang and the Charger........... Challenger? Can't remember - the shorter one. And the department where I live not uses Impalas. Are we going to ban those too?
For 2008, the Crown Victoria is restricted to fleet-only sales, and all Panther platformed cars are now flex-fuel cars. The CVPI receives some interesting new options, such as the ability to have keyless entry. Presumably, this feature was added because of the Chevrolet Impala Police Sedan having had keyless entry as an option since its inception.
For the 2009 model year, the CVPI now has power pedals as standard equipment. Standard equipment across the entire Panther line is side impact airbags, and new federally mandated recessed window switches. The CVPI also received upgraded brakes for 2009, although specifics about them are not available.[1]. No other appreciable changes have been noted yet.
It's a fleet vehicle, not a law enforcement only vehicle. They'll still sell to cab companies and such. And yes, it's stupid to not sell to the public. The people that would have bought them will probably go buy an Impala now. But if they want to lose out of that market, it's their choice I guess.
I know of this car lot in florida where that's all they sold-no other models. They were all white and had the search light mounted on the side. I guess that guy is out of business.
I think you'll find that Ford wasn't selling enough of them to the general public to make it worthwhile to sell. The 500/Taurus was to replace the Crown Vic, with the Fusion replacing the original Taurus.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. The last crown victoria was rated at 239 horsepower if you ordered the dual exhaust option only. Consider the fat pig it was at 4,000 pounds, it barely broke less than 9 seconds to 60.

That's what I thought as well when I read the OP post. 400 HP? HAHAHA. They aren't muscle cars by any stretch, even in cop form. My 10 year old 4 cylinder Saturn can outrun them.
I doubt the reason is "pretend to be a cop" - maybe pretend to be a taxi driver? As you see just as many and they get sold to the general public in auctions after the munincipalities replace them.
You can still buy the Mercury Grand Marquis or the Lincoln Towncar. I believe the Crown Victoria is only sold to fleet now. Fleet owners like these body-on-frame cars because they are tough, easy to fix, cheap to maintain and easier to modify than unibody cars. The underpinnings of these vehicles have not been updated in ages, and I think Ford will drop them eventually. In a way, that is too bad. If you want a RWD V8 car with a column shifter, old fashioned American luxury, then these are essentially the only game in town. The new Taurus and the new Lincoln MKS are much more posh and modern.
