Default Seat belts?

Just out of curiosity, why would anybody be stupid enough not to wear a seat belt while ridding in a car? Same thing with helmets on motorcycles, so why do people not wear them?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm amazed at just how many people I see that neglect to buckle up

I have yet to see a taxi driver that actually wears their seat belt.

I see it every now and again but nobody ever believes me.

I always wear mine. I don't know why you wouldn't.

Why would anyone be stupid enough to eat themselves in a state of obesity?

Why would anyone be stupid enough to not exercise and maintain good cardiovascular health?

Why would anyone be stupid enough to do the hundreds of other things that humans do that are contrary to maintaining a long and healthy life?

I often know what's "right." I don't always do it.

Seat belts wrinkle my shirts and Helmets mess up my hair, Duh!
In the 70s, I had an uncle who clasped the seat belts together and sat on them so that the seat belt alert would not annoy him.

I wear my seat belt so that my car is not ringing and beeping.

There was a time before 1964 when seat belts were an option....believe it or not.

But if I were restoring an old classic pre 64 car, I'd add seat belts. In fact I might even add a 5 point safety harness. Can never be too safe.

To me, buckling up is now 2nd nature. I don't feel right if I'm not buckled up.

Why do some still not do it? Guess their life doesn't mean enough to them to take 6 seconds to buckle up.

Sad thing of it is, cops now have to enforce the standard or you get a ticket. So either click it, or pay revenue or pay for it if you're involved in an accident.

Agreed....we did actually put 5 pointers in 2 cars we had....
My kids were taught at an early age...the car won't start if your seat belt is not fastened...
Of course, my husband also convinced them that when the radar dectector sounded, it was a "bad kid warning"
Oh the little white lies us parents spin to get our kids to behave!

Shelbygirl...thank you....now I know to let my kids know this same thing when they start driving....it's just inspired me to kind of make the car "anti-seat belt" proof....
