I think that as far as the base interiors are concerned that the Cadillac Calais is the winner/most luxurious. I think its a close race between the standard Continental and LeBaron standard interior, with the Lebaron maybe a touch more luxurious, which is odd, because typically Ford cars of the early-late 70s were a bit more luxurious looking than their Mopar competition- especially when comparing cars like the LTD Brougham and Gran Fury.
As far as the top of the line optional interiors go, I think its a complete flip-flop, with the Lincoln Town Car winning out, but very close to the DeVille/Fleetwoods interiors. I think the LeBarons optional interior is also very nice in design, but I think it would be nicer with a nicer cloth material. Those high-back seats in the 2-door Imperial are OK in luxury look, but I have never liked high-backed seats in a car. I think the green ones were standard and the silver ones were optional.
I like both the Lincoln and Cadillac interiors about the same during these years. Drivetrain differences are more important to me.
Me too.
I think the drivetrains in all of these cars were really great werent they? I had a '72 Cadillac (472 engine) and we had a '71 and '76 Lincoln (460 engines) and never had engine/transmission problems with any of them.
Love the Towne Car interior. I didnt know they were like 'that'
