Yeah and I liked the Mustang II Ghias with the luxury trim option. We had a 1975 Mustang II Ghia in the 1985-87 years. It was white with red interior. From 1982-85 it had served as my uncles car (then in his early 20s). I recall the car was very reliable, but it did have continous starter issues, which seemed common on these cars, but other than that, they were well built cars. No interior rattles and the doors shut with a solid sound. I think the windshields were thin on them though, because it seems like we went through like 4 windshields. They would just seem to crack for no reason.
This is what our old Mustang II looked like, only it was white... (this is a '78 model) - note this blue model has the luxury interior (pictured below) and has the V8 engine option - see the emblem on the front fender?

I have a current version GT convertible and its a fantastic car. Ive had 60's mustangs too and its no comparison. The new one does everything better.. Heres a pic of us lapping at NJ Motorsports track with it

My favorite years of the Ford Mustang was the 1969-70 Mustang's and the 1987-93 Ford Mustang's.
I also thought the 1985-86 Mustang's are very underappreciated cause that was when the Mustang's were starting to become more powerful again.

Up through 69, and I like the new retro Mustangs. I could do without everything in between.

Was your Mustang II with the V8 a fairly fast car? I wouldn't mind owning a Mustang II as long as it has the V8 option, the Cobra and the King Cobra's were really nice looking cars and very underappreciated IMO, I wish I can see more of those cars at the car shows.

If it was stock, then no it wouldn't be very fast. Those 302's back in the mid 70's were 134 hp wonders. Most 4 cylinders made today surpass that.
I did once drive a friend's 78 Cobra that had a rebuilt 302. As I can recall it was peppy, not sure about fast. It did have probably one of the best steering systems on it. I could bust a complete u turn in a 2 lane street.

That is a very little amount of power for a 302, I would definitely add some performance parts to get more power out of the Mustang's, didn't the mid 1970s 350 2 barrel motors only have 145hp?

horsepower ratings in the 70's were completely different then later. Net and gross. Basically 300 hp in 1970 would be equivalent to about 230 hp today. So a 300 hp GT Mustang today is equivalent to about 370 hp in 1970

Wasn't 1971 the last year of the gross power ratings? I always wondered why the 1972 model cars had alot less power than the 1971 model cars.
