There is a urine like smell that is coming out of the vents when we turn the car on. Does anyone have any idea what this means? We live in Tx and someone told me it could be from the heat and condinsation? Any thoughts? Thanks!

How long have you had the car and how long has the smell been omitting from the vent ducts?

What kind of car is it?

Could be antifreeze leaking behind the coil or maybe the freon leaking. When the air hits it you'll get that smell. If it's freon your a/c won't be working for much longer, it doesn't take long to lose all your freon.

Its quite possible some mice made a little nest up in there. Ive seen it personally. Tore apart an Olds 88 due to a customer complaining about a similar smell, there was a dead mouse in the HVAC ducts. And it also chewed the ever living crap out of the blower wheel (which I guess would make a perfect toy for a mouse lol).

What kind of car is it? If it's newer try changing the Cabin air filter which is about 15 bucks at auto zone.

Make sure you do NOT run the ac in recirc just before you shut it down. Its the moisture in the cabin gathering and causing bacteria buildup on the evap. Make sure you shut the ac OFF and let the fan run for a few munites before you shut it down to dry off the evaporator coil. Its wuite common

That is what we did with the kitty litter smell from our recently purchased (not new) car. However, it smelled like cat poop instead of urine. It really had us going for awhile, and were sure relieved that the filter change took care of it.

Hmmmm.

Maybe someone somecritter peed in your air intake. Give the area just forward of the windshield a good sniff.
Do you have neighbors who don't like you?

Replace your HVAC system air filter if you have one. Otherwise hit the car wash a few times.
