After World War II, Camden suffered a long decline due to a loss of its manufacturing base, and the outflow of middle-class residents to the suburbs. Based on 2006 data, Camden ranks as America's poorest city,[5] and Camden's high crime rate has resulted in it being ranked by Morgan Quitno Corporation as the most dangerous city in 2009.[6]
