Hmmm......I'd guess from this post you either earn your living as a car salesman or you might dabble in selling cars. That said, I've bought cars in the very manner I discribe for decades and it does work for me very well. Others might not have the grit to employ this hardball method and that's fine. However, I learned long ago that it's my money and the car dealers want as much of it as they can wring outta me so car buying is always low key warfare or a sort and I ain't gonna loose.

Of course a big roll of hundreds don't hurt either since when I say cash I mean cash!

I simply love how people assume paying cash is some big incentive. It's not.

I've had more than a few people like you walk in, and walk right out, and I don't waste a second worrying about it.

The dealership actually makes more profit from financing through kickbacks from the lenders than they would from the roll of c-notes.

...which goes along with what getmeoutofhere just said.

He doesn't care if you bring in cash....because he may actually make less on the deal...

Cash isn't always king.

In order, I want someone to lease, finance, bring in outside financing, pay cash.

I also like it if they have marginal credit. Not bad, but not great.

Cash is only king in a private party sale because the seller doesn't have to deal with extended holds on cashiers checks and the hassle of fraud, etc.

Cash may not be king to some dealers or sales people but I've never had one refuse a fair offer yet!

It's kinda hard to see a sure sale walk out the door just 'cause you want to play games with the customer over a few bucks on hold back they will get anyway.

You're the one playing games.

If you're going to walk if I get up out of my office, then there is no point to even attempting to work a deal.

Besides that, in my experience, people who come in with the attitude you do are never worth the small amount of money the sale generates anyway.
