Default Fancy aftermarket rims on vehicles and tinted windows

Why do you think so many people have flashy aftermarket wheels on their vehicles and dark tinted windows? i mean seriously, is there something wrong with the rims that came with the vehicle stock or do you just not have anything better to spend money on?

I have wheels and tint on my car.

The tint because I live in Texas, the wheels because I like the way they look.

I prefer the stock hubcaps and rims myself and not a fan of excessively tinted windows either.

for some people like yourself, a vehicle is just a means to get from Point A to Point B. to others, it's a hobby, a recreation, or even a die-hard passion. different strokes for different folks is all.

I like dark tinted windows, but putting on aftermarket rims is a waste. I have seen many peoples cars get stolen, just to get the rims.

Are you talking the ghetto cruisers with massively oversized and oddly designed wheels? Yeah, those are dumb, but there are plenty of tasteful aftermarket wheels out there.

Well, for the rims, many auto makers really didn't install nice looking rims....there are a few exceptions but most factory rims are sorry.

Rims pretty much make or break the car's appearance, IMO.

A perfect example...I switched out the stock 14X6 rallys on my 69 Nova 2 door and in it's place went a set of 15X8 rallys. BIG improvement in stance....the car now actually looks brawny. Before it looked scrawny.

Now of course there is a thing called "too much" when it comes to rims. I'm considering upgrading to 16 or 17 inch rims but no bigger. Any bigger it would look bad IMO. Save the big rims for Escalades and such.

Tinting the windows I think also adds character. It also helps keep people from looking inside of the car. But even then there's times where tinted windows don't go good on a car.

People have been killed for their aftermarket rims. Some are quite expensive. I prefer stock rims & wire wheels. Dark tinted front side windows are abit creepy. I dont see how they can see out of the side windows at night especially if theres no street lights.

For a broad cross section of the population, cars are an outward expression of our personal identity, so we customize our cars to express that identity. Whether we purchase rims, tint windows, or just put a bobble head doll on the deck of the rear window, folks use their cars to set themselves apart from other folks.
