Driving a standard shift is manly? Seems like a pretty trivial exertion.

My youngest daughter, a grad student up in Madison, drives a standard shift compact car. She's sweet and feminine though I've no doubt she could kick the butt of any guy so torpid as to think driving a stick was a manly achievement.

5,4, and 2 are incorrect.

3 is incorrect if you can't drive one correctly.

Been there, but #4 is iffy at best. I see 'em working, though.

The way most people treat a manual trans and the tach, I seriously doubt many know how to massage MPGs out of a powerband better than an electronically controlled auto trans.

I seem to find lots of Jeep Wranglers with manual trans and t-case. 4.0L I6 post-distributor years (2000-later), FTW.

Having that as a sidekick to my F150 sometime next year might be my way back into rowing gears as long as my left knee and ankle cooperate.

I have a manual but I won't regret to say that there are slushboxes that can outperform even the most skilled shifter.

From the book "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche" (1982)...
"Real me do not drive stickshifts. They are secure enough to let their gears be shifted automatically."

BTW, some of those claims in the list are not necessarily true.
