Default New transmission for old car- Cost?
As a lot of ya'll know i've been trying to buy a used car. I've decided ultimately that is not worth the car payments to buy a 4-8k car. I've found some ok cars for under $1000 dollars which would not require any financing whatsoever. The trouble is that most of them need transmission work. What would be the cost of fixing a transmission on say a 96 Mazda 626 or a 96Infiniti I30?

Define "fixing a transmission". If you're talking about a total tranny overhaul or a brand new transmission, you're talking more than half the price of the car. (the ones that are under $1000)
