Ford reports $997 million Profit in Quarter Three (And without my tax dollars)
Congrats to Ford Motor Company for making major changes to be an innovative company and figure out how to make a profit again. Ford made almost $1 billion in profit in the third quarter, avoided bankrupcty, and didn't take federal bailout dollars. Plus it gained marketshare, mainly at the expense of GM and Chrysler. People seem to be taking notice of Ford's new lineup and better build quality.
"Continuing its comeback effort, Ford Motor Co. reported a third-quarter profit of almost $1 billion as it cut costs and improved market share, making money in the crucial North American automotive market for the first time since the first quarter of 2005."

I have a lot of respect for Ford for being more prepared than the other companies. I've also come to find their latest lineup more attractive than ever.

Good job Ford! It's strange rooting for a greedy corporate entity but with things as bad as they are its great do hear some good news.

Basically those reabtes in cash for clunkers played a big role. We will have to wait until the next qaurter to see how they really are doing.

Now, put that Ecoboost engine in something that doesn't weigh 4,200lbs. Maybe offer it as the mid-level engine when the Mustang GT goes 400HP in 2011. Call the turbo 6 version the Mustang SVO.

Go Ford, Go! I bought stock as soon as I heard they didn't have their hand out for money from the Gov't. Go, Ford Go!! LOL
Selfish I know. I really do think they have came a LONG way in the last few years and have one sitting in the driveway. Ford has always treated me with long mileage vehicles and few problems over the course of 100K miles on each of them (some over 200K miles).

Not really. Selling a couple thousand extra Focus's might have helped a smidge but does not make a billion dollars profit. It's much more complicated than that. Ford had good sales in South America and Europe too. They have been making big operating changes over the last four years, coupled with debt reduction, lowered operating costs and rising sales (not from C4C but from all year) with higher profit margins is what got them in the black.
Bravo Ford! 10 years ago I never thought I'd say that.

The fires are being stoked deep down in the underbelly of Detroit. Embers will give birth to sparks, sparks will ignite, flames will ensue.... Detroit will roar again, led by Ford, which hopefully will be Detroit's phoenix.

You might get lucky, there are rumors that the Ecoboost TTV6 might end up in a Fusion. Of course, those are just rumors, but that would be interesting. I wouldnt be a fan of the AWD drivetrain that would probably be mated to it, but hey!
Id just like to see a turbo Fiesta h/b introduced or something.
