Yes- I could get a less expensive vehicle but we need the space as we have kids, take family trips, and occasionally will get it pretty full with various supplies (personal or work related).
Good for you NY! You seem to know exactly what you need and want and you know how to get it. Don't pay attention to the interweb naysayers, only you know your particular situation and how it all pencils out.

The leasing is not through the dealer. So they are not making any money off of that - it's through an independent lender.

The 51 months is because my company funds my vehicle that I use for work and the term cannot be longer than 4.5 years. If I go with a 48, or 36 month lease it would put the payment over my 'allowance' from the company.

OKAY?!
Actually, yeah, that makes total sense! I've been there myself. Company pays (x) amount for something that makes sense to them, not to you. So they give you (y) per month but attaches (z) stipulation to the amount.

Although you didn't ask, as a serial employer of supposedly educated, skilled people, I still see some undeniably dumb things, so my first reaction is to contribute--FWIW. With company allowance, all bets are off. What makes sense to you might be outrageous to the company. And vice versa!

So did you find the one you wanted? (I didn't read the whole thread).
