It was a joke, I only meant I had him beat in that its a strange thing.

You brought back a thread from the dead, which is ok, but we need year make and model.

With out that it will be hard to tell much.

With that said you might try a garden hose with a nozzel set to the finest mist you can get and slowly on igntion item at a time wet it and listen for a skip in the beat of the engine. That may assist in the location of the faulty part(s).

Sounds like the OP's truck doesn't have a hood, and he's trying to light a match to get 'er sparked up.

I have taken this to many different shops and spent $1,000's and it will hold up for about a month and then messes up again. First it has this mysterious antifreeze leak, had the radiator replaced, hose and even replaced the a/c compressor and water pump because that was suppose to be the problem. When it rains outside the next day it wont start until it warms up, if you get it to start you have to hold down the gas if you let off it dies. Anyone with any ideas on what is going on please send me a email or reply here.

Have a 98 Dodge 1500 PU, 5.9L V8. Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and ignition coil. Was running through all kinds of weather. Now all of a sudden doesn't want to start when it gets wet. Any suggestions?

My parents had a 69 Ford galaxie 500 that had the same issue. Replaced the rotor, distributor, wires, spark plugs and still had the issue. Was weird due to the fact that if you left it park right up against the garage, it would be fine but out in the open it would not start until it dried out. Never did solve this issue, got rid of the car due to this and a few other unsolvable issues.

Some people remove the foam seal on the cowl. That may allow water to drain into the engine compartment. Chevy distributors are right under that cowl.

One thing i would do is seal the cap to the distributor around the rim. You don’t need to kill it. Just a tiny bit on the sealing groove. That should keep the condensation out.
