Other articles show the real car. It wasn't a '69 Charger with a Confederate flag on its roof, but a modern Challenger with 74 on the doors and black stripes (no rooftop flag). It doesn't have any resemblance to the General Lee other than it's an orange Dodge.

Well.. Questions should have arisen when seeing a picture of the guy who was arrested..
Now.. There's a guy in Asheville.. Black feller.. Wears a full confederate uniform downtown every day.. So.. Not everyone takes offense at the same things... But.. Like seeing a black gentleman in full confederate uniform.. Questions come to mind when seeing a story that the above guy was in a General Lee replica.
And.. If you want my guess. The first story posted on this was from a radio station website. If you look at the byline on it, Jeff Zito wrote the story. You click on about and you see that Jeff Zito is the afternoon drive DJ.. And his bio states "Jeff is a swell dude."
More red flags than a drought zone there.
But.. Probably he wrote the story, fudging some details for his afternoon drive show.. Some wire service picked it up and ran with it without fact checking it whatsoever.
That Challenger doesn’t even look anything like the General Lee.
