Well the 6.0 was a powerful, good pulling motor. They just always fell apart lol.
I got stuck with the 21st 2003 6 oh noooooooo that came down the line. there is only one way to fix the 6 oh noooooooo and that is replace it with a 7.3 or a cummins. And the new version of it is no better. It will be interesting to see what ford's newest screwed with the 6 0h n000000 injection system will be like. I am sure it will leave more people walking. I knew i should have told the dealer when it came in that i specifically said it should have the 7.3 when i ordered it. I should have left that pos sitting on the dealers lot.
First of all the cummins is a true deisel motor. Inline 6 with turbo. Thats why they are the best. Ford and gm deisels are v8 made into a deisel. They suck. the best trans is the gm allison. Ford is best quality i would say. They new gm truck is ugly

Yeah, of course the 6.4 is not picnic either. I think Ford and Int'l ending the Powerstroke was best for everybody.
I always like Cummins and Duramax 10X better. The early Duramax did have it's fair share of injector issues though. GM's has an extended recall still in affect though so it's no big deal.

IMO, the Power Stroke died with the 7.3L! The new 6.7L is in house, I believe!
just thought i would throw this out there im driving a late 03 ford f350 with the 6.0 beat the living crap out of it and it just keeps coming back for more. i haven't had any thing fail on it yet and it just turned 125k miles. granted i do stick to ultra low sulfur diesel.
with the exception of the early 6.0s and early 6.4s(both ford), ande the early duramax, they are all good engines. so it comes down to what you want from the truck itself,a dnt he quality of the chassis and body. ford and chevy seem to be the best built, where as the dodges leave a bit to be desired. in the end, you pay your money and you take your choice.
my family has a big ranch in south dakota and weve used all three trucks. 1996 powerstroke, 2000 cummins, 2004 duramax, and now 2008 6.4 powerstroke and a 2011 kingranch 6.7 powerstroke. the fords were the only trucks that could handle pulling horse trailers and other loads in off road condition. the cummins had no lack in power but it was in the repair shop everymonth because everything but the engine was worthless. chevy was plenty durable but we ended up not having enough power way to much. it also got stuck really easy. our 96 ford was a 7.3 and anyone who says they dont have good power is dumber than ****, that pickup could have out pulled the cummins without even working. the 6.4 powerstroke has enough power but it doesnt touch our 6.7.
