Ah back in the good o'l days, 2006 when I lived in Vegas, I bought this pumpkin for $31k OTD with 0%/72:

Corvette engine in an Australia cockpit. She did 13.0@109 with just a canned tune and some flowmasters.

There seem to be several new cars in the price range that turn in similar numbers at each of the price points (4cyl Turbo Track trim or 6cyl in Track trim). I don't see anything earth shattering unless they just want to be able to brag that their 30K V6 coupe can beat a mid 30s Nissan luxury coup (Infiniti).

I'm not impressed by any of the sporty RWD V6 cars out there for the mass market. The numbers just don't look that impressive on any of them. Each of them has serious trade-offs, for now.

the best thing about them is they are pretty good sleepers when I go for a cruise people don't really pay attention unless I punch it but my best friends 03 mach 1 gets lots of people trying to race him he also gets more tickets than me.

Sold it to a guy in Denver and bought this:

Wanted/needed AWD with living up in the mountains and going skiing every weeked. It's not GTO fast, but the HEMI does pretty good in the mountains.

Still have a LS2 in the garage though, at least until February when the lease ends:

It's strange that just about every reviewer is saying this car is a huge bargain for what it does yet you're saying its overpriced. What did you expect it to do? Have a 500HP inline 4 and outrun Corvette's at $26k?
I live in a very wealthy area, and in an area with over 9 million people in a few counties. Ive seen 2 Genesis coupes on the road since theyve been out. Theyre hardly popular. The local Hyundai dealer has had the same green one on the lot for many months now. Sorry man, but those looking for performance and have 30 large to spend, seem to be steering clear of the Genesis coupes. They go for the real performance cars like S2000s and EVOs. It does hang pretty well for cars in its class, but it doesnt "overpower" them. An S2000 that is 6 years older will still hand its arse to it on the track. A G35 is not only better looking, but also performs as good as a Genesis coupe, even with a softer edge. I admit the back of the Genesis coupe is nice looking, but the front? Cmon man, thats hideous. The grille is quite possibly the ugliest thing Ive seen on a new car since the Yaris puked itself into the world. The turbo 4 is a fail because its underpowered. If someone is looking to buy a quick sports coupe, theyre gonna bypass the 4 cyl Genesis. Why? Its not fun getting outrun by Toyota Highlanders, thats why (yes, the Highlander V6 is quicker than the Genesis 4 holer). Who seriously wants to buy an underpowered "sports" car, then have to spend THOUSANDS of extra dollars worth of warranty-voiding aftermarket car parts just to make it as fast as the 3800V6 version? Think!!!

And it is a relative bargain, but its still overpriced considering that if you spend a few grand more, you get a better handling, faster, roomier, AWD Lancer EVO. Only a fool would choose the Genesis.

And for the record, the Hyundai doesn't compete with the G - totally different market imo although people may cross shop them. The Genesis is a mid $30k sports car that competes with the V6 Mustang, Camaro, RX-8, maybe the 370Z.
It does compete with the G35... semi-close price range, similar power outputs, coupes, RWD, etc. The G35 is eons better looking, jus thought Id throw that in there.

And unless the V6 Stang is a convertible and fully loaded, its price wont near 35K. I can go down to the local Ford dealer and pick up a sexy Bullitt in Highland Green for that price.

They are definitely selling very well in the Bay Area but you have to take into account that car sales are poor in general and you may be seeing that where you live. The V6 Genesis will over power an S2000 easy, there is simply no competition and it will hang with an EVO as long as its not from a dig (AWD helps here). It will also destroy a Mustang GT on a track without giving up interior space and rear seat room like an S2000. Do you know what the 4 cyl is for? It's to offer the Genesis package to people who can't afford the V6. Complaining about its performance is simply ridiculous because then you would get the V6. It would not take thousands of dollars to improve output by a significant number because massive improvements are only a retuned ECU and increased boost pressure away. So now you've got a high power 4cyl with lower weight than the V6 for an even lighter car and better handling car. Hyundai's 210HP output for the turbo 4 is a very good number and right up there with most manufacturers who have turbo 4's in their line up (VW/Audi, etc). Not to mention the fact that dyno's are showing the turbo 4 putting down about 200hp at the wheels meaning that the 210hp figure is hugely underrated (more like 240+). The turbo 4 is actually a detuned Mitsu EVO motor and is simply a turbo upgrade away from massive power output. The V6 Genesis will also run a faster lap on a track than the G35, no question about it.

In general, if you're not looking to mod the car then the V6 with 300+hp is a great car. If you are looking to mod the car (like these guys http://www.examiner.com/x-4719-Chica...3076-Turbo-Kit) you can get the 4cyl and push 340 wheel horsepower (so about 400hp at the crank).

I was left very disappointed after driving the Genesis Coupe (3.8L). It felt like they built it with overly quick steering feel so it felt like it handled better than it did, and overly aggressive throttle so it would leap forward at even the lightest pressure on the pedal, so it would feel faster than it really was.

Overall, it is a good package. For around town driving, these aggressive controls would make it feel very "sporty" too. However, when I got out of it, I felt that it felt too artificial because of these aggressive controls. It was quick, and it handled well, but it just didn't have a natural feeling to it.

It wasn't a car for me, but I can see the appeal.

you could pick up a nice 03-04 cobra and mod it to get some serious power for less than 35K
