2001 BMW 740i with the sport package. Only if they could make it somewhat reliable though. The last good looking big BMW, IMO.

Mac, the 'real mini Cooper' is still being made. (last I knew, at least) We cannot get it because of safety regs.

That really ticks me off!

That figures.

In Mex and china you can buy a dirt ball car that we can't have either, but that idea is just fine for everyone but the USA. Tell me how does that work anyway?

One of these days i gotta hunt down a few dead sun beaten 60's and 70's vehicals to restore, because ain't none of this new stuff floatin' my stick.

How about a REAL BMW 3-series. One that emphasizes light weight with a silky smooth engine and comes with a fantastic suspension, brakes and a REAL manual transmission. You know the cars BMW used to build before they got all yuppified.

the 1-series pretty much picks up where the 3-series left off.

Maybe in spirit, but not in actuality. A 1-series is only about 200 pounds lighter then an equivalent 3-series, which isn't saying much when the 3's are pushing 3,500+ pounds these days.

When I talk light weight, I want sub 3k pounds, more like 2,800. BMW is now more concerned with status, image and electronic gimmicks then they are about the visceral driving experience.
