Ok, I been having a small leak in my radiator, my antifreeze last only maybe a week and a half, then its outta here. Im not much of a mechanic so i asked around and quite a few time I heard, place black pepper in the radiator to stop a leak?????????? huh?? but....who knows so thats why I asked you guys, truth or ol' Louisiana rigg and fix it tip?
Really, the best way to fix this is put in a new or rebuilt radiator. Black pepper and cigarette tobacco both have been known to temporarily plug leaks, and frankly I like them better than most "stop leak" products because they are easier to clean out when you do a real repair.
Most newer cars, while they tend to be harder to work on in some respects, are pretty easy to R&R the radiator. If you don't want to spring for a new radiator, get one from a junkyard, take it to a radiator shop for a leak test and cleaning if needed, put that in.
Don't know about pepper but ginger or nutmeg is a one time done deal fix. Drove an old work car with ginger fix to a good sized hole to work for two years before I junked it.
I have a friend that had a leaking radiator in an old Buick... put in black pepper and the leak stopped. That was 9 years ago and as far as I know he still has not had any problems. Still has that old car too.
If it is a plastic radiator you definitely need to replace the radiator as the crack will keep getting bigger and bigger. If it is metal, find the leak and use epoxy. That will permanently fix it.
if it is, if you're only looking for a temporary fix until you get a new rad, then, yes, black pepper will probably help.
Cracking a few eggs into the rad will have the same effect, however, it goes without saying that if you crack eggs in your cooling sytem, you are advised to give it a THOROUGH flush when you fit the new rad.
both of these are tried and tested and approved by me.
Years ago I heard that a can of evaporated milk added to the radiator will stop a coolant leak. Don't know for sure, never tried it.
Eggs, pepper, cinnamon and now milk. I'm starting to get hungry
You could maybe throw a big ole greasy sausage in there too. That'd stop you up.
No wait a minute... We're talking radiators, right?
