Leaning towards the X Radials at this point, even though I can't find a rating on these tires from Consumer Reports. The 80K mile warranty is a factor as well.
My Pilots were my introduction to Michelin rubber, and boy, did they kick some serious butt. The current Pilot Exalto however, seems to be a slight step down. Just a bit noisier and less refined than the previous iteration I bought in 06? CR reported them as a middle of the pack tire in their recent Nov. 09 test as well.
edit: I'm not going to give this any more thought for the next day or two. I might as well flip a coin at this point.
Don't know if it's still going on now but Sam's had $70.00 off a set of four when I bought the Michelins at the first of the year. Might be worth a phone call or a little internet research. Good luck
I called costco today. I told them I was interested in both tires. I'm not sure if they were just busy and agreeing to whatever I said so they could get on with their work in the shop, or whether they were actually serious. But...
The mgr said that I could actually return tires I bought from costco for a different set if I didn't like them. Does this sound correct?
I'm not even sure if I find this plausible or not!
Check the reviews at tire rack. That's the only site I trust for opinions on tires. I've bought three sets from them from three different cars after studying their reviews and the owner reviews and they've been dead on every time, particularly on handling in bad weather and noise.
Besides, you might find a better tire for less money. Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels
Oh yeah, I've pretty much read every review for the exalto's. No reviews for x radials as they are only sold by the big boxes: sam's and costco.
