Federal regulators have opened an investigation into complaints that power steering systems in the Chevrolet Cobalt can fail, making it more difficult to control the car.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there are 1,132 complaints about the Cobalt's electric power steering, including reports of eleven accidents and one injury.
Steer by wiring, drive by wiring, think by wiring... Some systems are just meant to be mechanical IMO. Don't get me wrong, I think electronic systems are great but not for everything.
Power anything can have problemns really rather electric or pressured fluids.As more mileage is demanded by government we are likely to see less that taxes the engine to get there.
I bought a '08 Cobalt Sport Coupe in March 2008 and I haven't experienced any steering problems.
