2008 Honda Civic Sedan

I love 99% of this car. It's by far the best car I have owned (so far). I love the 2 tier dash layout (space age all the way!).
I also love the gas mileage and the agility and steering response. Braking is above average. Very loud stock stereo with built in input for my MP3 player.

The only con is that it's not AWD and being so light it spins alot in snow...but ALWAYS spins out and has never been stuck.

As much as I love this car and since it's PAID FOR i will keep her for 20 years, but would like to get a Toyota Tacoma 4X4 for versatility and utilitarian use.

In the past I have owned mostly domestics and I am glad to have moved on. I love my appliance!

91 420SEL & 84 300SD (both mercedes w126)

Pros:
The auto transmission will hold itself on hills without a brake. Do other newer cars do this too?
8 & 10 way Power seats with memory function
Leather that doesn't seem to die (gas only)

Cons:
Slow (diesel only)
bad mpg (gas only)
Most advanced features are powered everything, computers were not yet integrated into the driver experience (perhaps a good thing?)

2001 Lincoln LS V8

Best features:
-Comfortable, bolstered leather seats keep you planted on corners
-Good power, muted yet nice throaty V8
-Well built, quiet interior
-Tight suspension, good cornering, and very controlled at high speeds
-51/49 weight ratio
-Timeless styling that has aged well
-good MPG for a V8 (18-19 in town/26-29 on the highway)
-8-way power seats, power tilt and telescoping wheel

Worst features:
-Door chime and belt minder are on the obnoxious side
-Auto transmission tends to hunt for 2nd gear (PCM reflash fixes this)
-Limited storage space
-Rear seats are tough for older people to get out of
-Low ride that is prone to incline and driveway scrapes

2003 Ford Focus SVT

Pros:
One of the best handling cars Ive ever driven. Absolutely glued to the road.
Brakes are amazing. Almost 12" rotors on this car with ABS is phenomonal.
Nice feeling/shifting 6 speed gearbox
Decent power (about 180hp with minimal mods).
Even with 103K miles, I still get 25-28mpg city, and a shade over 30 on the highway.
Roomy.

Cons:
Hatch creeks in cold weather.
Quirky. Little problems here and there that are a little annoying (ie bad t-stat housing o-ring, etc).
Rides pretty rough, but I expected that.
Runs on Premium fuel only.

The car I am about to buy.... (I am using Fleets layout... )

1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan
Best Features:
- Safety features for a 1991 car
- Smooth drivetrain
- Roomy and comfortable interior
- Soft ride
- Group 2 option package; twilight sentinel, electronic compass, passenger power seat, Bose sound system, power heated mirrors, electric antenna, keyless entry.

Least Favorite Features:
- I am sure I will end up saying fuel mileage.
- instrumentation... limited to speedometer, fuel and temperature (remedied with guage/digital option available in 1992)
- handling, but OK for a big car
--------------------------------
1988 Mercedes 300SEL sedan
Best Features:
- Status of Mercedes
- smooth ride
- instrumentation
- safety features and solidity
- roomy luggage compartment
- ease of service
- powerful braking system
- good MPG for a big sedan

Least Favorite Features:
- handling could be better, but its an old car
- acceleration is a little off since its a 6-cylinder
- only average HVAC system (trouble spots on these cars)
- no tilt wheel available, but standard power telescopic... strange
--------------------------------
1973 Pontiac Grand Ville
Best features:
- powerful 455 V8
- super smooth transmission
- roomy interior and trunk
- very reliable and easy to service
- very soft ride
- super easy to steer

Least favorite features:
- weak and numb handling (typical early 70s big car)
- fuel consumption
- excessive weight damages "cheap" tires
- new weatherstripping impossible to find
--------------------------------------
1972 Chevrolet Caprice Kingswood Estate wagon
Best features:
- super roomy
- neatness of its design
- smooth ride
- easy to service
- 9 passenger capacity
- visibility

Least favorite features:
- fuel consumption
- lack of cruise control and power seat options
- complexity/service of tailgate
- takes forever to wash/wax

2009 Scion xB MTX

PROS:
- tons of room. plenty of head clearance. no rubbing shoulders even between two full size adults. COMFORTABLY holds 4 adults.
- decent power. gets out of its own way and is decently fun to drive
- easy to work on and modify
- lots of aftermarket goodies
- proven powertrain
- lots of room for stuff, especially when you fold down the rear seat
- iPod connectivity standard
- cozy enough for longer trips. i commute 1 hr each way with no complaints
- tows a motorcycle very well

CONS:
- cheap interior materials
- noisy interior while driving (road noise, creaks and groans)
- useless driver's armrest
- no multiple settings for the intermittent wiper blades
- no telescopic steering wheel
- TC too intrusive.
- No quick and easy way to turn the TC off.
- no LSD (only an issue when you REALLY push it, but it needs it)
- vague clutch feel

Mike

Lincoln had a winner with the LS, although they clearly copied styling from the Mitsubishi Diamante. Still an attractive car after almost 10 years. Yours is teh sex !

Thank you!

I'm anxiously awaiting the return of any midsize RWD Lincoln. The MKZ with AWD seems nice enough, but it's just not a direct replacement for the LS. Hopefully Ford gets its butt in gear now that they are profitable again.
