That's all I can remember. The speeds ranged from 2 or 3 over the limit to 48 over the limit, but most were in the 8-10 mph range. A rough estimate of the total fines is probably around $5,000.
And, no, I never lost my license or was even threatened with it.
About 10 years ago I was driving cross country to visit and then break up with a college girlfriend in a rental car. I wasn't in a great mood and the car wasn't mine. Near Moline, IL I was steaming along at around 130 mph on the interstate when I saw a car in the distance. As it approached I could tell the shape looked like a cop. I slammed on the brakes and managed to reduce my speed drastically by the time we passed.
I see his lights go on and I pull over. I'm pretty nervous, and the cop comes to my door. He is probably 6'4 300 lbs and he has a giant wad of tobacco in his mouth. He says " I just clocked you going 79 in a 65 mph zone ..." My relief must have shown, because he finished "... but that was after a hundred feet of skid marks." He then gave me a lecture but only gave me the normal speeding ticket. It was a little over $100. I have never been happier to pay a ticket in my life.
2005. 61 in a 45 mph. $107 fine. Going down a hill behind a pickup truck with a trailer. I don't know if he got me or not. I wasn't even paying attention to be honest. Near my home here.
The only ticket that I"ve gotten in 9 years of driving.
Worst ticket I ever got was 45 in a 30 and I don't remember what it cost.
I have been pulled over a few times at well over 100 but it was out west and each time I was told to slow down. Not even a warning.
