Oh really? Those are usually good cars. Did it have the 4-cylinder? The V6s in those were better. I know a lady with an 89 Century with 202K. V6 though. I have a 1990 Century as a work car... 110K. Still runs as new, but it has the 3.3L.
Just let him whine and sulk about his American car experience, it's what he wants to do.
'89 Olds Cutlass Ciera. Purchased used in 1999 shortly after I got out of high school and the first owner was some elderly lady; Still in the family and puttering along to this very day.
1968 Ford LTD, white four door with black vinyl roof, a family hand me down. This would have been 1974, maybe '75?
Lasted till '76 when the frame went bad at around 120k miles, actually a lot for a car that vintage that received no special treatment. The 390 motor lived on in a '68 Ford convertible thru the late seventies while the carcass rotted in a farmer's field.
An almost identical car showed up on a dealer's lot about a year ago. Nice to see but I have zero desire to have another one.
