If the TL had the sh-awd, then maybe, but it looks pedestrian and is underpowered. Then again, what engine in a 3 Series? I'd only consider a 330 or 335.

3 series out of these two.

Both are nice cars but I am not crazy about Acura's styling too much. I think if I went Acura I might be more interested in a TSX over a TL too.

3-series without question.

They are amazing cars, and that generation is great looking. The handling is superb, and they are just a joy to drive.

Neither...

However if someone had a gun to my head and forced me to choose it would be the Acura. IMO the uglier of the two but certainly the most reliable.

this isn't for me so i confess i'm not completely educated on these models, but don't the tsx's have a road noise issue?

I don't know how much they differ in road noise. The TL is a higher end model, so probably. The TSX is generally considered a little more sporty however in it's handling and that would be a higher priority for me than trading off a little bit of road noise.
