I have a GMC truck with windshield wiper blades that make an extraordinaryily loud and annoying noise if they are on when the precip is not very much. I realize this sounds like an obvious question. Trouble is that it doesn't take much to make this happen.

Adjusting for wiper speed with the delay is a near constant struggle when you're driving through light, then heavy, then back to light rain. It's either that or let the delay go for too long and risk driving with poor visibility until the next sweep of the wipers.

Does anyone else have this problem?

What if anything could minimize the noise when the windshield isn't quite as wet as the wipers would "like."

The wipers have been replaced with the last several months and are in good condition.

Did you use a cheap pair? Get some good quality ones and the problem will probably go away. You could also get a good glass cleaner and clean the windshield.

Rain-X your windshield--it makes for a smooth wipe. Rain-X Latitude Wipers are also nice.

Don't know about cheap...just whatever they had.

If the last heavy rain didn't clean the shield I don't know what would.

Rain-x, hunh?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

If the wipers blades are good;get some Bartenders frinnd and a sponge and clean the widshield well of oil and other grime. Do this until a slow stream of water from a garden hose does not show streaking. Then try cleaning the blades with a mixture of alcohol and water and then replace the blades if that doesn't work.Rain will only clean the surface dirt off.

I have a 2008 GMC Serria crewcab with the same problem. I have changed the blades with quality blades and that was no help. I have not tried Rain-X but that might be worth while. I have had the problem since the truck was brand new but I don't drive it a lot and (16,000 in 30 months). I recently asked my deal about it and they don't seem to know what is wrong.

A clay bar kit. Small fragments of debris can get imbedded in the glass windshield just like the clear coat that protects your paint.
