How come cars aren't banned?

Imagine if I just invented a new product and said only 40K people will be killed annually from it; or a Pharmaceutical Company invents a new drug and claims only 40K deaths per year. There is no way they would be approved, yet the Auto Industry is immune?

If you want them banned you're free to work for it.

Very simply because people need cars to get around.

I have wondered why bars have parking lots. It doesn't make any sense to me.

A lot more people die from driving and using cell phones each year. I don't condone drinking and driving but that is a fact.

Also drowsy drivers kill more people than drunk drivers too.

I have to admit I have driven in all 3 of these conditions (drunk, drowsy, cell phone) and was most distracted while talking on my cell phone.

I slightly disagree. I feel driving while sleepy is the most dangerous. Years ago I had a work cell phone and I never got in an accident while driving with it. I have been falling down drunk while driving and have never wrecked. However, I did fall asleep at the wheel on the freeway and I managed to run off the road, spining around finally running into a fence on the other side of the road. Luckily, I was not hurt.

Fatty food kills or hastens the deaths of millions of people a year. Why is it not banned?

But, pot is illegal.

I'd just say you should drive very defensively.Being careful and smart CAN keep you out of that silly statistic.
