Well, that's probably good, since it's been a while since there were automotive V4s in Fords, Saabs, and Lancias.

You do know that 4 cylinders and V6s can be turbocharged too right? That's kinda the whole point of this thread.

You never spent three years in a desert. I did. This will not let you down...

Apparently the marketing message in the UK is "drive a slow car and feel good about yourself!"

Your posts here have not convinced anyone that you are somehow brilliant and any more or less opinionated about cars than anyone else.

At 125mph for an average family car no one would call that slow. I advise you to read the thread before writing. You clearly did not.

I doubt I have got the conditioned to think about matters. I recall one European politician stating that the EU should start pressurising the USA to cut down on wasteful fuel usage - we are running out of oil - and they USA burns so much wastefully in vehicles.

Let's have a discussion that is useful. Nobody drives a Land Rover here. I think Hyundai is taking the biggest risk. In Sonata they had a winner. By offering only a 4 cylinder, turbo or not, I think they are going to turn off a lot of their customer base. We shall see.

It's coming, our mpg standards (CAFE) are about to go over 50 mpg. Ford has already started using turbo V6s instead of V8s in their trucks.

Also, when many Americans say a car is fast they're talking about 0-60, not top speed.

John-UK - you ignore most of the comments here. Top speed is irrelevant. Your car is slow. A modern scooter might be quicker than your car.

Americans value freedom, liberty and the right to go where we want how we want.

We have plenty of oil and the EU would too if it fracked.

Sad to see a Brit quoting EU big Government control speech

There's no "we shall see" about it -- they haven't offered a V6 in the Sonata for 5 model years now. They seem no worse for wear because of it.
