No one does this as a repair anymore, The repair is a new axel with both cv joints at the same time, 2 per axel, and the longer axel always goes first. If no alignment settings are changed the vehical goes back not needing any alignment.
Alignment might be needed as it is, brakes might be too, and the wheel bearing might need replacing too. Hard telling not seeing.
It takes a long time for the c v joint to break from first clickings... When it does you won't loose controll but the vehical will stop going. So the only controll lost is being able to go at all. I certain places like the passing lane on some interstate that could be a problem.
Each little click is caused by metal ball bearings locking up for an instant, chipping the holders they live in.
This could also be the wheel bearings, which I believe are a sealed unit on this vehicle. A decent mechanic, either at the dealer or independent, could tell quickly if it is the cv's or the wheel bearings.
