Default Made the purchase!

Some of you may recall the now closed used luxury auto recommendation thread I started recently and we've finally made a purchase. We are the proud owners of a 2007 BMW 530i, black on black with 60k miles. We managed to pick it up for $20k, the car checks out mechanically and comes with a full service history. It's visually solid with a few minor scratches here and there that I'll be buffing/polishing out and the chrome paint on the iDrive joystick and AT shifter are peeling a bit so I'll be removing it entirely and just leave the silver finish underneath. Other than that it looks pristine. Thank you all for all prior recommendations and advice. We'll be getting an extended warranty just in case any BMW gremlins decide to surface. I love my G35 but except for acceleration, it really pales in comparison to the new car.

Those are very nice cars. Be careful looking in to service plans, but that's a nice car. One of my favorite on the road.

Oh, and really? An Avalon instead of a BMW 5-series? Perhaps you misread, this is the "Automotive" section, not the "Crazy Guy Who Doesn't Know **** About Worthwhile Cars" section.

With the car being what it is, we're not skimping on warranty.

Just read the fine print. I don't think you can get a BMW warranty, and 99% of the aftermarket contracts are total ****.

Welcome to pure driving pleasure and $150 oil changes.

Yeah, the extra expense is expected. I've got a shop that treats me well that should be able to get basic maintenance completed for a bit less than the usual.

Thanks. I just checked the BMW web site and they do indeed offer an extended warranty. I checked a bmw blog and they say that the warranty can be purchased from any dealer and that they do allow you to haggle on pricing (1500-3000). There are also a few reputable 3rd party warranty companies that I need to do some research on (although you're right on most of them being crap).
