I'm planning to buy a used car with over 50K miles on it and I'm wondering (1) if it's possible to get a manufacturer warranty on a car with this many miles that's not currently covered under a warranty and (2) what is a reasonable price to pay for a manufacturer warranty? Also can/should I buy this warranty online or through the dealer?
no you can't buy manufacturer warranty after it has been out of it's orginal warranty period. I would just stay on top of basic maintenance that is stated in the owner's manual and put some money aside in case of a emergency to cover parts costs and labour.
Actually if it is certified you can buy an extended warrenty but expect it to cost you big bucks.
You can buy it online but make sure it is a Manufacturer warrenty and not a scond party one.
