Even on rural roads, you can just slow down, pull over as far as you can and wave the guy by, you don't have to actually pull all the way off the road. Most rural roads at least in south Jersey are low traffic so it's really not that difficult.
Perhaps I mistook your defense of tailgaters as meaning that you are one, but my point is to any tailgater that reads it.

I didn't defend tailgaters, I simply said I can't control what anyone else does, only me. I do however think anyone who refuses to get out of the passing lane brings it on themselves, and I myself have better things to do than try to teach anonymous strangers lessons by stubbornly refusing to let them by me.
If you're not actively passing, you have no business in the left lane, and yes I say that as a person who does NOT tailgate. My opinion on this is strong though, as I feel people who park in the left lane are one of the biggest dangers on the road. Even when I am in the right lane, if I see someone poking along at exactly the speed limit with 15 frustrated drivers behind him, I think that guy is just a P-A a**hole, and wonder why he won't just move over. So maybe you mistook that as "defending" tailgaters?

It sounded like you were defending them, but if I got it wrong, I got it wrong. I am not the person sitting in the left lane, so don't waste your time saying, "you have no business in the left lane". If I'm there, there's a reason for it. I prefer the right lane, but tailgaters tailgate there too.

I understand. But this is one area where I feel one group is overtly aggressive (the tailgaters) but the other group (people who won't move over on multi-lane road) are just as aggressive, just passively. Even this thread title speaks of aggression and wanting to use the rules of the road to get revenge on someone....one is no better than the other, JMO.
