Another sign of a police state. How long before one comes to your community?

WSVN-TV - Drone may be coming to Miami-Dade

The Miami-Dade Police Department recently finalized a deal to buy a drone, which is an unmanned plane equipped with cameras. Drones have been used for years in Iraq and Afghanistan in the war against terror.

Many residents are concerned that the new technology will violate their privacy.

Too many helicopters in my area to use drones. They would hit each other.

Are you aware of FLIR? I would not be surprised if they do something like Google street view but use FLIR to see where people are in a house. Would be more useful to get night time data I would think.

Like I say, we will have an electronic police state as long as the bureaucrats can find the funding......

Solution....fewer bureaucrats.

Like the one Mexico used that crashed inside our nation.

Mexican drone crashes in backyard of El Paso home - El Paso Times

Actually, I don't have a problem with them using drones to monitor crime.

The only ones who need to be concerned are the criminals.

Most people are oblivious to all the surveillance and monitoring they have on a daily basis.

There are cameras everywhere in society already.

Sometimes they help solve crimes.

Its still odd to me over 2 years later since moving out of Riverside CA when I hear copters. They are a constant presence there and there were times I make the dog wait and she had an accident because I didn't want to take my dog outside my door to relieve herself and have a spotlight shine in me. And I was so safe I got burgled with all the birds in the sky. Only copter here is the medivac one and I still sit and wait for it to leave.

If I have a choice I'd take copters over drones. They have a pilot who can guide them to some empty spot if they go wrong.

Why do we need to be constantly survailed? We must be pretty scared of our shadows by now.

First test them out on the brown people of the Middle East and then use em to control our own population. When do the air strikes begin in FL?

I see you've already been conditioned to accept such violations of privacy without protest or question. I'm not and I'm not a criminal.

I had to tint my bedroom window because the Denver police chopper kept lighting up my bed. Turns the night into day.

I don't live in Denver though.
