Default If you were a billionaire, would you consider reviving the Concorde?

I was saddened when the Concorde discontinued flying. While I never flew on one, I liked the idea of super fast passenger jet.
Do you think under the right hands it could be made profitable, either internationally or domestically, with the right amount of capital if it was revived?

With luck you may not have to wait that long. Boeing, Lockheed, and Northrup have studied what it will take to make an economically viable SST. And designed to fly TWICE as fast as Concorde.

Not unless I wanted to go broke.

It was sad to see it go. I was at the Oshkosh Fly-In one year when it was there. They took folks up for a quick tour in it for $125. I didn't go but have wished I would have....

while the concorde is an interesting concept, it is not economically viable. it requires far too much fuel to fly super sonic, and it is restricted to sub sonic speeds in most countries. and while there are manufacturers working on the issues, it will be quite sometime before any of the problems are solved to the point where it is economical enough for the average person to be able to afford the ticket prices.

If I was a billionaire I'd be in Eleuthera thinking of reviving Ferretti.

I think if I had the funds I would try to make something more updated than the Concorde.

Different days and different ways, when Concorde was designed. It's a miracle it remained in revenue service as long as it did.

An SST is way outside the box in today's airline environment. They have enough trouble staying in business doing Mach .80.

If I was a billionaire (just a few bucks short this week ) I would have a Citation TEN or a Gulfstream G650 and tour the world. The Citation would probably get the nod for 1/2 the price of the G650 and the fact it can get in/out of more local strips than the G650!

Concorde was awesome, I wish I would have caught a ride (not on the France departure though!) but keep in mind it was designed in the late 60's so it wasn't exactly current technology!

Lets see, no TV's or entertainment. Very spartan interior, although every seat was a first class seat the room was like coach. Not that I would have minded, I am slim and only 5'6".

Benefits, arive before you took off. See the curvature of the earth. What an amazing flight that would be.

Still I would have better uses with my money then to start building aircraft.
