Recently, we were experiencing bad weather a few hour before our flight departed. I figured the flight would be delayed, so I check the flight status online. Sure enough the flight was delayed original departure 9, new departure 11:30. Just to double check I also called the 800 number, and she confirmed the new departure time. We were already near the airport, so we decided to kill an hour or so since our flight was delayed. After about 45 minutes I decided to check the website to make sure it wasn't cancelled since it was the last flt of the evening. Well the departure still said 1130, but the arrival time now said 10:30, ????

Well we decided to high tail it over to the airport since the website was clearly not making sense. When we get there , the flt was not delayed and was listed at the original departure time! We barely made our flt, after doing an OJ thru the airport. If you can't trut their website and 800#, who can you trust?

Good to know - don't trust their electronic information delivery. I think that happened to me once in DFW, the monitors were wrong in the airport and I almost got burned. And, it probably doesn't help to check alternate sources (like the airport webpage) because they probably all get their information from the same database source.

The SouthWest Flight Dispatcher... But you can't talk to him/her.

I allway assume all flight will be 'ontime', and go to the airport (Unless it like under 2feet of snow). Then kill time at the airport. Flight 'catch' up time,

Sometimes they rearrange what planes go where, so they may change out 1 'ontime' flight for one 'late' flight, depending on the flight, connections, crew's etc.

From the SWA check flight status website..."It’s important to check in as normal even if the flight’s late"...

Once we were on the ground waiting at pickup point in Montego Bay and Air Jamaica was telling our reserved driver that we were delayed in PHL.

I think a lot of people confuse the aviation forum with the travel forum.

Never look at the fids, goto the gate yourself and see there. In some airports they don't update the fids very often. So the plane may leave. Ok.
