My grandson, who lives in Medford, OR, just celebrated his 10th birthday in a retired/"restored" SAC Boeing KC-97. From the photos his mom posted on Facebook it looks like it's still all there -- instruments etc. -- for kids to explore and play pilot. Rent is $150/day or $85/half day. It can seat up to 49 people. Who wouldn't remember a party in a KC-97? Beats the heck out of a McDonalds birthday party!

I just thought it was a great idea and wanted to share it with y'all.

A shame they couldn't fire up the old radials and let them rumble and smoke. They had them at PHX Sky Harbor when I was a kid (KC-97L with jet assist) and they were fascinating to watch and listen to.

That is too cool. How fun. Almost as much fun as visiting Hawkins and Powers in Greybull Wyoming.

Thanks for posting, WyoNewK!!! What a cool idea! Would love to try to make it out there for a flight some day. As much as I love jets, I always regretted not trying to ride on one of the EC-121 "Connies" that were at Homestead AFB, FL when I was there in the late '70s.

Chief, to my knowledge they don't give rides in it. I think currently it just sits on the tarmac. Warbird flights are available in many locations, and some of them tour the U.S. offering rides in numerous towns.

That is pretty cool. A fairly large railroad museum down here in Miami does something like that with their trains.

How about this one: Hotel Arlanda, Hostel Arlanda - Jumbo Stay A place I must stay in one day.
