Unfortunately, you may be right.

A friend is flying the same kind of plane, from Africa to Dubai, in a couple of days. It sure would be good to know if those planes have a fatal flaw.

Now what about the early reports of villagers and oil rig worker seeing a burning plane on either coast?

As much as we all complain in the USA about our Government sticking their noses into our affairs too much, it is instances like this that make us understand how good we are at solving problems like this one when it involves our people. The Malaysian Government seems like one level above horse and buggy when it comes to sophistication and ability in this matter. They really have no idea what the hell they are doing and are trying to cover up that ineptness with bad information, just for the sake of throwing something out there to quiet the masses.

Thank God we live where we do.

According to ABC and other evening news reports fisherman reported seeing the plane flying very low to them the night it vanished. This was some six hours after it lost contact etc... The fishermen remembered this plane because it was "bigger and louder" than any they are used to seeing flying in their area. Because of the darkness they could not read the bottom of the plane but clearly recalled the lights on each wing and so forth.

We should all just light candles at Mass this Sunday or whatever one's particular form of worship happens to be and move on sadly. The Malaysian government and military have about as much competence and instill as much confidence as the Keystone Cops. I'd trust Sheriff Andy Taylor and his deputy Barney Fife to lead an investigation over that lot any day.

It is apparent the Malaysian government and military are in over their heads and rather than face perceived humiliation and defeat by calling in other nations would just prefer to go tottering on.

That being said don't think China is going to let this drag out very much longer nor go quietly into that sweet gentle night. There certainly are going to be consequences and repercussions for the Malaysian government over this, and they know it is coming.

Right? Anyone with any sense can tell the Malaysians have ZERO clue what they're doing.

American living in Malaysia come back to the US or go somewhere else because if you go missing or something happens they won't have any leads on you.

NBC is saying that they know the plane was programmed to make that turn at least 12 minutes before the co-pilot made his last transmission and before ACARS was turned off (the information was sent along a ACARS transmission). However, the article says that sometimes pilots program an alternate route before takeoff in case of an emergency. Anyone know how commons this is?

It makes me wonder if it was the co-pilot's doing. Supposedly the two pilots hadn't asked to work together, but did they know each other beforehand? Could they have coordinated their schedules to do whatever is they did?

Even if the plane isn't recovered after a sea crash doesn't debris start to surface? Regardless of it being a massage search area it's been a week. By now something would be floating in the ocean. Enough ships and people have looked.

I can't look at the Tomnod site because Google Earth pictures make me queasy but over water more so.

So doesn't that indicate that it's not in the ocean at all and on land? I mean something from inside would be floating even if the plane is submerged just based on the impact alone which would shatter something.

That 13,000 runway sounds stupid because people would be at that airport and SEE it land.

I still don't understand how all this gets pinned on the pilots. None of us know exactly what happened or who did what. How do we know, there were not people up to no good planted on that plane? One would think by all the reports that the media, had a camera on the pilots watching them turn dials and programming for a new route. They may very well have done all this, and someone or one's could have had a gun to their heads. We may never know what actually happened to this flight.

This is real life, not some film where Sigourney Weaver slips into the cockpit and is able to fly and land a plane.

Modern jet liners are complicated and very sophisticated things, getting one to do what happened that we know with this flight would have taken someone with more than just a casual glance through "Flying a Boeing 777 for Dummies" book.

Even the Bastards on 9/11/01 had to take enough formal training in order at least to know how to "fly" the planes into the World Trade Center and other targets. Even then they weren't concerned with anything else but achieving those purposes.
